Secondary Performance Table Measures 2016 – Progress 8 & Attainment 8
The 2016 Performance Tables in England and RAISEonline reports will focus on the following headline measures in 2016:
- Progress across 8 qualifications (Progress 8)
- Attainment across the same 8 qualifications (Attainment 8)
- Percentage of students achieving the threshold in English and mathematics (currently a grade C, grade 5 when new GCSEs in English and mathematics are first reported in performance tables in 2017)
- Percentage of students achieving the English Baccalaureate
The DfE are considering a fifth headline measure to show the percentage of students entered for the EBacc.
They would like to introduce a headline measure based on the percentage of students that went on to sustained education, employment or training during the year after they finished their key stage 4 qualification. This will only be done once they are sure the statistics are robust.
The widely used ‘expected progress’ measure for English and maths will not appear in the 2016 performance tables.
