DfE Statement of Intent

On the 24th July 2017 the DfE published it’s Statement of Intent for the School and College Performance tables.

This is the document which sets out the key measures schools are to be evaluated on at both the primary and secondary phase. This year the statement contained very little new information although we have summarised the main points here.

The key changes at secondary are in relation to the new 9 to 1 scale for GCSE in English and maths. The main headline measures will use grade 5 or above – i.e. proportion with strong pass in English and maths and proportion achieving EBACC. For transparency these measures will also be published using grade 4 or above.

The DfE also plans to publish MAT performance measures based on their paper in July 2016 which can be found here. These MAT performance tables will be published in January 2018.

2017 performance tables will be published as follows:

  • Primary – December 2017
  • Secondary – January 2018
  • 16-18 – January and March.

Provisional secondary measures will be published in October to assist parent’s choice of secondary school.

The full Statement of Intent can be found here.
